Capsule Geology

The Weed 3 occurrence is located north of Weedon Creek and approximately 3.8 kilometres northwest of the creek’s mouth on Weedon Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by paragneiss metamorphic rocks of the Upper Cretaceous to Eocene Wolverine Metamorphic Complex and basaltic volcanic rocks of the Triassic to Jurassic Takla Group.

Locally, a sheared microdiorite with minor chlorite and secondary biotite hosts pyrite.

In 1990, a grab sample (046R) assayed 0.140 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20529).

Work History

In 1989, Mingold Resources Inc. staked the Weed 1-4 claims on the area. The following year, a program of prospecting, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 16.8 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey was completed on the area.
